Today, we received news via a press release from Ford that the automaker will offer a new V-6 EcoBoost engine with class-leading torque for the upcoming 2017 F-150 pickup. Providing further evidence of the automaker's relentless pace of innovation, the 3.5-liter engine generates a segment best 470 pound-feet of torque. The number beats all diesel- and gasoline-powered competitors, including V8 engines with nearly twice the displacement.
In addition to class-leading torque, the EcoBoost V-6 engine is also matched exclusively with a 10-speed automatic transmission; the first of its kind available to consumers. Thanks to the improved powertrain, the 2017 Ford F-150 offers better acceleration and performance than standard six-speed automatic transmission.
Providing better low-end and peak engine performance - ideal for heavy payloads and trailers - the 2017 Ford F-150 goes on sale this fall.
