When it comes to space and power, the Ford Transit fills the van-niche, appealing mainly to commercial buyers, while the Ford Expedition offers a similar experience in a more family-friendly package that looks good in your driveway.
The 2018 Expedition adds performance to this full-size SUV, with increases to both torque and horsepower, and brings its maximum tow rating up to 9,300 pounds. As always, it seats up to eight passengers, making it an ideal addition for parents with a craving for truck-like capability.
Coming this fall, Expedition customers will be able to satisfy their lust for adventure even more with the new FX4 Off-Road Package.
This package prepares your SUV for rugged all-terrain handling, with a seven-preset Terrain Management System, skid plates, off-road-tuned shocks, thicker tires, and an electronic limited-slip differential. Its long wheelbase makes it less-than-ideal for rock crawling, but it thrives in roadless areas. When an old logging trail is your only way to camp, expect no complaints from the Expedition FX4 Off-Road.
