You may already know this, but there are actually a few important reasons for washing your car and for how often you should wash your car. Washing your car is obviously a very tedious chore, especially if you wash it using the traditional method of scrubbing with soap and water. The following are just a few important reasons for washing your car:

1. Rust: Tree sap, bird droppings, dirt, and other things that can attach itself to your vehicle that overtime will compromise your paints surface protective properties. Once a sufficient amount of time has passed, rust can even start forming that will weaken your vehicles structural strength and will eventually start forming holes and exposing vital internal components to the elements potentially causing further damage.

2. Resale Value: Faded paint and a corroded exterior will obviously affect your vehicles resale value should you try to sell your car in the future. Resale value is obviously of utmost importance in cases when you’re leasing a vehicle. Returning a leased vehicle that has been poorly maintained will mostly likely cost you a few extra dollars in repair costs. All because you chose not to wash your vehicle regularly. That is, once every one to two weeks.

3. Landing that job: Protecting your paint and keeping it in pristine condition can do more than just motivate others to wash their car as they see you riding in style. It’s been documented through some books that some hiring managers will require their potential new employees to drive their vehicle to lunch on the day of the interview. If you don’t have a clean car, then the hiring manager may determine you won’t have a clean desk area and perhaps won’t do a quality job for the company. This may ultimately cause you to lose your job opportunity to someone else that cleans their car regularly.

Next, it is recommended you wash your car within a few days of getting salt on your vehicle and very soon after getting tar on it. Lastly, waiting to remove tar on your vehicle will cost you money by having to invest expensive tar removing products, and a substantial amount more of scrubbing time.
